Stampede Pass connection to Easton

The two most common ways to get from Stampede Pass to Easton are known as the "high road" and the "low road". So far, we have only done the high road...

The High Road

Starting out from the Crystal Springs sno-park, you travel up the 54 road for about 3 miles to where it intersects with 41. Turning left onto 41, you will travel another 10 miles or so on groomed trails to a place where 4110 makes a "T" in the road. It is at this point where the groomed trail typically ends.

Continuing on 41 along Cabin Creek and around Cabin Mountain, you will go over a few narrow wooden bridges (only wide enough for a sled) and eventually find yourself on a paved/plowed road (Cabin Creek road) that leads right into Easton. If you pay attention to the signs indicating "To Easton", you can follow them over the railroad tracks and right to CB's for a quick refuel and some snacks before using this connection to ride the Cle Elum area south of I-90 (Watch for signs "To Taneum/Manastash"). The distance from the 41/4110 intersection mentioned above and CB's is a little over 7 miles.

Total distance: ~20 miles each way

Rider Ability: It's pretty easy and comfortable on the groomed sections. The ungroomed section starting at 41/4110 to Cabin Creek Road can get a little rough over washboards there hasn't been much new snow in a while.

The Low Road

Haven't done this yet but plan to. Apparently, you catch this low road (420) off the 54 heading up towards Stampede Pass about a mile out of Crystal Springs sno-park. It goes down to your left just after the Dandy Pass road. I think this drops you in the the Lake Easton State Park and not sure if you can connect up with Taneum/Manastash from here or not. However, I do believe you can get to the Gold Creek area on the north side of I-90 from here.

Area Maps

Mapped routes for this connection can be found in our Stampede Pass map. If you venture out into the South Cle Elum riding area from Easton, you will also need Taneum.
